What stays on your device, and what reaches Lineup.

Effective

On your device

Lineup keeps your board choice, your theme, your starred and hidden spots, your region choices, the last release you saw in What’s new and your last forecast on your device, so it still works offline. It also keeps a few small notes that help it open where you left off. For the Save to Home Screen hint, it counts your visits, with when this one began and when the page last loaded, and remembers whether the hint has shown and how you closed it.

None of that is sent to Lineup. Everyone gets the same forecast, so nothing about your choices goes with it. You can clear it all in your browser’s site settings.

If you joined with an invite link, Lineup also keeps one cookie that remembers the invite. It holds a code, nothing about you.

Visits

We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It’s cookieless and aggregate: it sets no cookie, stores nothing on your device and doesn’t follow you from site to site.

For each page view it reports the page address, the site that sent you, your country, your device type, browser and operating system, and how fast the page loaded. Cloudflare sees your IP address when that report reaches it, which is how it works out the country, and handles it under Cloudflare’s privacy policy. We only see the totals.

Lineup is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel sees your IP address when it delivers a page and may keep it for a short time in its own logs, under Vercel’s privacy policy. Lineup’s own code never writes it down.

Spot requests

When you send a spot request, we keep the spot name, the town, your note if you add one, the time it arrived and its status (new, added or declined). Please don’t include personal details.

Requests are kept for up to 12 months, then deleted. The one exception is the Telegram message described below.

The request log holds no IP address and no device ID. To stop floods, the server counts recent requests from each connection for up to an hour. That short-lived limit lives in memory only and holds a scrambled form of the IP address, never the address itself.

Aaron reads requests through his own tools. They send him a short message with the spot, town and note on Telegram, and keep a copy in his notes that’s cleared on the same 12-month schedule. The Telegram message stays in his chat, under Telegram’s privacy policy, until he deletes it, so it can outlast the 12 months.

What we don’t do

No accounts and no ads. We don’t sell or share your information, and we don’t track you across other sites.

Other sites

Cam links and source links open other sites, like HDOnTap, Swell Magnet, CDIP and NOAA. They have their own privacy policies, and Lineup doesn’t control them. When a spot shows a webcam picture from Windy, your browser loads that picture from Windy.

Do Not Track

Lineup doesn’t track you across sites, so a Do Not Track signal doesn’t change anything here. The site works the same with it on or off.

Children

Lineup isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If a request note holds a child’s details, write to us and we’ll delete it.

Changes

When this policy changes, we’ll say so in What’s new and update the effective date at the top of this page.
