The nearshore wave forecast at each spot and the live buoy readings (waves and water temperature) come from the Coastal Data Information Program at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego.

Tides: NOAA CO-OPS

Tide predictions come from NOAA’s Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services, from a tide station chosen for each spot. The live buoy readings come through CDIP, not from NOAA’s National Data Buoy Center.

Wind and marine weather: Open-Meteo

Open-Meteo supplies wind speed, direction and gusts, sunrise and sunset times, swell and sea temperature, and the rough offshore wave estimate Lineup shows, labelled, when the CDIP forecast is missing.

Sunset quality: Sunsethue

The grade beside tonight’s sunset time comes from Sunsethue. It describes the sky, not the surf, and never changes a surf rating. When the grade isn’t available, only the sunset time shows.

Surf cams

Lineup doesn’t own, embed or rehost any cameras. A cam button links to the owner’s own page on HDOnTap, which runs its own players, ads and privacy policies.

Some spot pages also show a still from a nearby public webcam, linked to its page. Webcams provided by windy.com.

Lineup’s own ratings

Lineup converts units and combines these sources into its own ratings. The ratings are made by Lineup, not by the data sources.

Lineup is not affiliated with or endorsed by CDIP, NOAA, Open-Meteo, Sunsethue, Windy or HDOnTap.
