Lineup is a small SoCal surf report built around a quick, board-specific check. Surfline is a broader surf reporting service. Use whichever gives you what you need, or both.
- Coverage
- Lineup: 31 curated spots across five Southern California regions.
- Surfline: a broader spot directory and reporting service. Its site lists its current coverage.
- What Lineup gives you
- Longboard and shortboard ratings for every spot, the best daylight windows, wind, tide and swell, live buoy observations from the data sources, and links to free cam pages run by their owners.
- What Lineup doesn’t do
- It has no cameras of its own, no human forecaster reports, no global coverage and no personal alerts.
- Cost and cams
- Lineup is free, with no ads and no account. Linked cam pages are run by their owners and may show ads. Surfline lists its current features and access on its own site.
- Accuracy
- Lineup makes no claim to be more accurate than Surfline. Whichever you use, check the beach, the lifeguards and any warnings before you paddle out.
